"When I asked Meg to explain why nutrition is important after we give birth, she explained that when most people get pregnant, their bodies don’t necessarily have the right balance of essential nutrients. This could be for a variety of reasons, including less than ideal diets or even a genetic predisposition to not absorb nutrients as easily as others do.

Add to that reality the fact that many of the nutrients we absorb when we are pregnant or bodyfeeding goes to our babies. And let’s not forget, the human body does an astonishing amount of work as it grows a baby (or two or three), births those babies (vaginally or surgically) and then starts the lactation process."
